About me
Hello there! I’m Hishoi! I’m a fennoswedish teen situated in the horrible place known as Ostrobothnia. I make art in many forms, mostly painting and fiber arts (knitting and crochet). Culture, people and nature lay very close to my heart. I stress a lot about pointless things and I eat a lot of yougurt.
Digital thoughts
I’ve been on the internet for practically my whole life. I’ve only recently discovered this part of the web though. In early 2025 I got really into open source and fixing things, so it was only a question of time before I started coding. I wouldn’t call myself an expert, but I’m having lots of fun with the basic HTML and CSS that I know. A couple years ago I used to spend around 9 hours on my phone every day. Nowadays it rarely reaches half an hour. I’ve been officially quit everything scroll-able since sometime in july/august 2025, and I’ve never felt better. I think I have a much healthier relationship to technology nowadays. I wouldn’t call myself a believer of “all tech is evil and we should go back to the stone age” though. I think the internet can be a great information source, a way to connect with people, entertainment. It just depends on how it’s used.
Why under-the-maple?
The maple is my favorite tree. I remember seeing the maple blooms in spring really in detail for the first time, and I came to the realization that it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. The url is a reminder to myself to go outside more, since I’m still struggling with making it a habit. And as stupid or silly as that may sound, sometimes you really just need to go outside and look up at the leaves of a maple tree. Or the blooms, like I did.
I'm no graphic designer, i'll put stuff here sooner or later
